I only know people my age who have been formed by extraordinary institutions. Those who bear the mark of both an extraordinary secondary school and an extraordinary university are most familiar, of course, but I have also come to know some of those who’ve gotten one of the two.

If past generations are any guide, the shoe yet to drop consists of those who, for some reason, have managed to miss or avoid such places entirely.

This is, I suppose, what certain Department of Defense officials used to call a known unknown. It’s unsettling to realize that one’s sample-sets are incomplete~that forces to reckon with lurk, close by but off-radar.

Wonder what they’ll be like, how much time is left before we have to start making room for them.
